Flooding is a serious issue facing farming in the country. Flooding is a water disaster that has left some soil redundant and also left some farmers in confusion and distress.
Many farms have been brought down by this flood and they need to suggest or proffer a solution to the disaster.
Flood occurs when water overflows its boundary, or when the dam is filled up with water, and as such, the pressure from the water will break the dam thereby leading to flooding.
Farmers in Nigeria located their poultry farm close to one of such water runway and flood- prone areas. His bird was destroyed by the flood leaving him with no bird.
This is a big loss to the farmers and as such, it should serve as a lesson to other farmers who because of the scarcity of land will site their farms in flood- prone areas.
All farmers are thereby urged to check the topology of the land before thinking of setting up a farm to avoid such thunderous loss.
Flood remains one of the enemies of farmers and as such farmers are advised to seek ways that will reduce the severity of flood on the farm. Some of such ways are.
1. Farmers should create runways away from the farm to avoid waterlogging and flooding.
2. Farmers should avoid using harrow plow on their farm as this will make the soil to be powdery thereby not able to withstand a flood.
3. A poultry pen should be properly built with a strong foundation in other withstand a flood.
4. Poultry farms should be raised from the soil to avoid submerging if a flood should start.
Farming remains one of the most profitable business, but they are lots of obstructions that need to be tackled by farmers to ensure proper farm yield.
